Ilaina Van Pelt


My training is RYT 200 with Sarah Acord at Aiken Yoga. I'm currently working on my RYT 500 at Asheville Yoga Center. Also currently receiving Thai Yoga Bodywork training with Michael Sitzer.  


My favorite posture at the moment it's Mermaid because it is the set up for my fantasy pose King Pigeon. One day I'll be able to pose in King Pigeon.  

I found yoga in college and dabbled with it here and there until, at long last, I dove head first into it in November of 2016. At the time, my souI was treading water after personal tragedy. I was staying afloat by immersing my self in the world Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but I was fueled by pain and aggression. My friend was a student at Aiken Yoga and he thankfully realized that the Yoga lifestyle was precisely the soothing balm that would remedy my spirit. He invited me to try Yoga on for size and it was a perfect fit.

Yoga has taught me... Yoga has taught me far too many things to list. I can start by saying I have learned that you can't truly love someone else until you love yourself first. It has also taught me that we must let go of the past, not worry about the future, and essentially Be Here Now. There is no path to Happiness, Happiness IS the path.
