My experience encompasses teaching a wide variety of movement therapies over a 40-year span. Gratefully, I have studied with many wonderful and knowledgable teachers.
My teaching styles morphs between a strong alignment based power vinyasa and a gentle flow where beginners feel safe and supported.
My favorite posture is Each and every asana presents a different experience with every visit to it. If I had to choose a favorite though, I'd have to choose Warrior II. Warrior II is very strong and has a sense of peace to it. Each breath, each movement equally enjoyable. However, full disclaimer, I do not find pigeon pose equally enjoyable.
I found yoga strictly by chance. My personal movement practices were always high energy and strength centered. Yoga never really appealed to me. When I went to my first class with a friend and stepped inside that yoga studio, I knew my life would change forever. The studio, the beautiful art work, the alter, the incense, the energy, and of course, the practice. Power Yoga with Jen Ryan, my teacher, was humbling, even for a badass gym rat like myself! Moving with breath, strength, and focus seemed to enhance everything I was doing up until that point. That was almost 20 years ago and I have been on my mat every day since. I will forever be a student.
Yoga has taught me that as much as I try to do a handstand and fail, my practice doesn't change. It's all good!
