I found yoga in the early nineteen nineties while recovering from minor surgery. I went on a health kick and started practicing breathing exercises and meditation with Dr Andrew Weil’s books and CD’s. Later on I practiced yoga postures with Priscilla Patrick’s SCETV show.
From 1999 until 2007, I studied meditation/mindfulness with Deborah Welborn who gave private lessons and lived in Aiken during that time. In that same time frame, I also learned a form of Vinyasa flow yoga with the Steve Ross “Inhale” TV show.
My first live class in 2007 was also the first Vinyasa class offered in Aiken at Just Breathe studio. I continued to attend classes with Nicole Tibshirany, Kristen Henninger and Heather Peterson.
Soon after teaching hot yoga classes in the summer of 2012, I completed an Asheville Yoga Center 230 hour teacher training with Stephanie Keach. Since then, I have taught Yoga I, Power Vinyasa, Align and Flow, and Hot Yoga.
Lately, I have been traveling to Orlando to study with Steve Ross and Tymi Howard at Guruv Yoga studios. I am currently half way through another 200 hour Teacher Training with Tymi and Steve.
I have also been studying and teaching the Jimmy Barken hot yoga method.
My favorite posture is Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Balance)
Yoga has taught me all the practices necessary to stay relaxed and “just be” in each moment.
